What is Animation Explanation?

Animation Explanation is a platform in which you can find short informational, animation videos on a wide range of topics.

 

How are the videos made?

These videos are made by the Animation Explanation team along with another IBDP student.

• First an IB student comes up with a topic and writes a well researched and cited writeup. He/she then submits this writeup from our website page “Submitting Writeup”. Along with the writeup, he/she gives their name, email, phone number, etc.

• This writeup is then received by the Animation Explanation team. We then send a “Thank you for submitting email”.

• The Animation Explanation “English Head” then checks the writeup for grammatical errors, plagiarism and bibliography. The English Head also sees how many videos can be made from this writeup (longer the writeup, more the videos).

• If everything is fine and cleared another email is sent to the writeup creator saying “Approved”. In this email we also provide him/her with a zoom meeting link to discuss on how we have to move forward with the video.

• We record this call for evidence. Once everything is cleared up by both sides of the team, we start making the animation video.

• Once the video is completed, we send the video to the writeup creator to check if he/she is fine with the final result. If all is cleared again, then we go forward to post the video on our website and Instagram for all our viewers.

 

How is this project doing a service?

We have tied up with an NGO called “Kolbe Home”, which is a home for the children of prisoners. So how are we helping them? In each video of ours we will be playing a short (10 to 15 seconds) promotional and informative clip about Kolbe Home. This clip will include information like what work they are doing, the children of the NGO, how we can help them, etc. By expanding our audience, not only are we helping IB children but also helping this NGO by raising awareness about their noble cause.

 

How is this beneficial?

This platform is beneficial in 3 keyways,

• It provides IB students with a fun CAS experience under the “creativity” strand

• It provides anyone and everyone with free videos on the topics of their desire

• It raises awareness about an amazing NGO: Kolbe Home

 

IB students: We have tried to create a platform in which IB students can earn a CAS experience through learning something new. When students will research more about their topic and write the script of their videos, they will learn more about topics they already know, and they will also learn more about how to frame a script and how animation videos are structed to capture the audience’s maximum attention.

 

Free videos for everyone: These videos are wholly meant to provide people with knowledge in a fun and different way. Most of us have learnt about different topics on the web through long essays, explanations, etc. Often, our attention tends to move away from the essay. Although, with animation videos, the expressive and exciting doodles help to keep the audience’s attention. One of our goals is to ensure that these free videos are helping one person or the other learn something new.

 

Raising awareness about “Kolbe Home”: After finding and researching about this hardworking NGO, we immediately started working on how we could use our platform Animation Explanation to benefit Kolbe Home. By adding 10 to 15 second promotional clips about Kolbe Home, our growing audience will become more aware of this NGO and hopefully would be looking to support it as well. On our website we have made an animation video explaining Kolbe Home, we have added an article describing their work and have added their bank account details for donations.
